Job Description
Our established Utah client is looking for a senior Red Hat Enterprise Linux administrator who can independently support production RHEL servers hosted in AWS and enterprise CUPS printing.
The Senior RHEL Administrator is responsible for reliable day-to-day operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and documentation of AWS-hosted Linux servers and print services.
Core Responsibilities
- Administer production RHEL servers and core operating system services.
- Support RHEL servers running in AWS EC2, including NLB, networking, and security group requirements.
- Manage CUPS print servers, print queues, printer definitions, and print troubleshooting.
- Perform patching, upgrades, service management, and incident response.
- Use shell scripting and automation to simplify repeatable administration tasks.
- Support application, network, and service desk teams during print or Linux incidents.
- Create and maintain runbooks, standards, and operational documentation.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) system administration.
- Hands-on expertise with CUPS printing systems in a Linux environment.
- Understanding of networking and system security fundamentals.
- Experience with cloud environments, preferably AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, etc.).
- Red Hat certifications such as RHCSA or RHCE are highly desirable.
- Expertise in Manhattan WMS and TMS software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
Key Competencies
- Senior RHEL Experience: Proven experience supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux in a production environment.
- AWS Operating Context: Experience supporting Linux servers running on AWS EC2, including basic NLB, networking, and security group troubleshooting.
- CUPS Printing Experience: Hands-on experience administering CUPS print services and troubleshooting print failures.
- Independent Ownership: Able to diagnose and resolve issues without step-by-step direction.
- Operational Discipline: Comfortable with patching, change control, incident response, and clear documentation.
- Cross-Team Support: Able to work with application, network, service desk, and business teams when issues span multiple systems.
