Job Description
This is a 12-month contract position with the Clemson University Information Technology Center, offering potential for extension.
Daily Duties and Responsibilities:
- System software management.
- Technical support for developing, maintaining, installing, and utilizing operating systems and subsystems for mission-critical systems.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (40% of the time) for creating, installing, and maintaining system software on mission-critical systems.
- System tuning for optimal performance.
- Tracking system capacity and ensuring system stability.
- Collaborating and liaising with other units, serving as a technical resource and subject matter expert.
- Contributing to research and development projects as needed.
- Training and advising less experienced systems programmers.
- Providing expert technical assistance.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of experience with Linux/UNIX.
- 3+ years of experience in a highly regulated healthcare environment (HIPAA).
- 3+ years of experience with Scripting and Automation.
- 3+ years of experience working in a mixed Linux and Windows environment within a VMWare or other cloud-based enterprise environment.
Required Education:
- High School Diploma.
- Experience with enterprise Linux systems.

- RHCT, RHCE, or similar Linux certifications.
Additional Information:
- Interview Process: 1 round, virtual.
- Work Location: 100% remote.
- Candidate Location: No SC residency required. Must reside in the Continental US (lower 48 states) and be comfortable working EST time zone hours.
