The Role: Senior Informatics Technical Specialist
This fully remote position is part of the Informatics Team, requiring a mixture of home office and onsite work. As a Senior Informatics Technical Specialist, you will be Beckman Coulter's primary point of contact with customers, responsible for implementing a software product that integrates laboratory information systems (LIS) with analytical instrumentation. This role involves expert decision logic for sample management and results delivery, bridging key data management gaps.
You will engage with customers' laboratory and IT personnel to develop effective solutions, perform installation and integration, and provide customized consulting to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction and highly automated laboratory operations. Reporting to the Informatics Area Manager, you will contribute to planning informatics product installations within your assigned area. Key Responsibilities
- System Integration: Integrate automation, informatics, and LIS to ensure seamless communication between all systems. Establish connectivity for analyzers, networks, and LIS by writing custom algorithms to modify informatics software.
- Project Leadership: Define and communicate critical gaps and potential design improvements for the integration process. Serve as project leader, directing and executing all laboratory informatics implementation activities.
- Third-Party Integration: Integrate third-party hardware, including PC workstations and servers running the informatics software. Manage and support customer satisfaction to drive business growth.
Essential Requirements
- Associate degree in science, IT, or medical technology.
- 3+ years of related experience in a clinical lab environment or with a clinical LIS.
- Ability to travel 85% of the time to client sites.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for the last 3 years.
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements
- This position requires domestic and potentially international travel, including flying and/or driving, with up to 85% overnight stays.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to regularly lift, move, slide, raise, and/or place up to 50 lbs.
- Physical requirements include standing, walking (prolonged), sitting, squatting, kneeling, ascending/descending stairs, and reaching with hands and arms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in science or Medical Technology.
- Experience in programming, networking, databases, and/or LIS implementation/development.
- Proven experience managing personal schedules, travel, company assets, and expenses within guidelines.
- Background in laboratory workflow and operations, ideally as a medical technologist (experience with Beckman Coulter instrumentation systems is a plus).
Work Arrangement & Compensation
This position is eligible for a remote work arrangement. Further details will be provided during the interview process.
- Hourly Range: $36.00 - $45.00
- Bonus/Incentive Pay: Eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
