Environmental Associate Attorney (Mid-Level, Hybrid)
Location: Denver, CO
Work Type: Hybrid
Experience: 4-6 Years
Compensation: $220,000 - $260,000
Employment Type: Full-Time
Direct Counsel is representing an Am Law 100 firm seeking a mid-level Environmental Associate to join its Environmental Practice Group in Denver. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse client base across industries and on high-impact environmental matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on matters involving environmental and natural resources law, including regulatory compliance and litigation.
- Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, briefs, and client communications related to air and water quality, hazardous waste, natural resources development, and federal/state environmental regulations.
- Represent clients in matters before administrative agencies and in state or federal court.
- Assist with environmental due diligence and risk assessment in transactions.
- Collaborate with cross-practice teams and provide timely, practical legal advice.
Requirements:
- 4--6 years of environmental or natural resources law experience, including litigation.
- Strong academic credentials, legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Experience with federal/state environmental law, water law, and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to manage deadlines, communicate effectively, and work collaboratively.
- Admission to the Colorado Bar required; admission to other western state bars a plus.
- Prior experience at a law firm, court clerkship, or government agency preferred.
Preferred Experience:
- Judicial clerkship or background with a national or top-tier regional law firm, Department of Justice, or state Attorney General's office.
