Job description
Direct Counsel is seeking an associate to join a growing and sophisticated regulatory practice at a highly regarded law firm. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney looking to work on complex insurance regulatory matters in a collaborative, cross-office environment.
Locations
This position is open to the firm's offices in:
- Harrisburg, PA
- Princeton, NJ
- Philadelphia, PA
- New York, NY
- Baltimore, MD
Harrisburg and Princeton are preferred.
The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of experience handling insurance regulatory matters. Additional experience in broader regulatory work or prior in-house insurance carrier experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Advise clients on insurance regulatory and compliance matters
- Conduct legal research and draft sophisticated regulatory analyses and memoranda
- Collaborate across offices with attorneys and clients on complex matters
- Support regulatory filings, compliance reviews, and strategic counseling
- Provide practical and client-focused legal guidance in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of insurance regulatory experience
- Additional regulatory or in-house insurance carrier experience is a plus
- Strong academic credentials
- Superior research, writing, and communication skills
- Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving, adaptability, and leadership abilities
- Strong work ethic and commitment to client service
- Active bar admission in the jurisdiction of practice required
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $205,000 – $225,000
- 4x4 Hybrid Model (in-office Wednesdays plus four additional in-office days per month)
