Job description

Direct Counsel is seeking an associate to join a growing and collaborative employment law practice in Baltimore. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney looking to develop and expand their employment counseling and litigation experience while working closely with experienced practitioners in a sophisticated national practice.

The ideal candidate will have 2--4 years of labor and employment experience with a background in both counseling employers and handling employment litigation matters.

Responsibilities

  • Advise employers on workplace issues, personnel matters, and employment law compliance
  • Handle employment litigation matters from inception through resolution
  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, memoranda, and other litigation-related filings
  • Assist with discovery, depositions, hearings, and case strategy
  • Collaborate with clients and attorneys to develop practical and effective employment solutions
  • Support risk management, policy development, and workplace investigations as needed

Qualifications

  • 2--4 years of labor and employment law experience
  • Employment counseling and litigation experience required
  • Traditional labor experience is a plus
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Excellent research, writing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Active Maryland Bar admission required

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $195,000 -- $215,000
  • 4x4 Hybrid Model (in-office Wednesdays plus four additional in-office days per month)
