Duties
- Conduct detailed pipe stress analysis using specialized software tools, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations
- Develop and validate models for piping systems, incorporating factors such as thermal expansion, pressure variations, seismic activity, and mechanical loads
- Collaborate with systems engineering teams to integrate pipe stress considerations into overall system design and system control strategies
- Review construction plans and specifications to ensure piping integrity during fabrication and installation phases
- Utilize programming languages such as Python, C++, and Fortran to automate analysis processes and improve modeling efficiency
- Document analysis procedures, results, and recommendations through clear technical writing for project reports and quality assurance records
- Support laboratory testing and field inspections to verify analysis accuracy and system performance under real-world conditions
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with a focus on piping systems, materials, and manufacturing processes
- Proficiency in analysis skills related to pipe stress, finite element modeling, and system design principles
- Experience with construction practices relevant to piping installation and radioactive waste handling environments
- Programming expertise in Python, C++, Fortran for automation, data processing, and simulation tasks
- Familiarity with distributed control systems (DCS) used in industrial process control environments
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering standards, quality assurance protocols, and safety regulations
- Laboratory experience conducting tests on materials or piping components related to radioactive waste management or mechanical systems
- Understanding of systems engineering concepts applied to complex project integration across multiple disciplines
