Role Overview

The Cloud Director is responsible for leading the organization's cloud strategy, infrastructure operations, architecture governance, and cloud transformation initiatives. This executive-level role oversees cloud platforms, engineering teams, security compliance, optimization efforts, and enterprise technology modernization programs to ensure scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud environments.

The Cloud Director collaborates with executive leadership, engineering, cyber security, DevOps, and product teams to drive cloud innovation, operational excellence, and long-term technology strategy in a fully remote environment.

This is a fully remote position; however, applicants must currently reside in the United States and be legally authorized to work in the United States. Applications from individuals residing outside the United States will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute enterprise cloud strategy aligned with business objectives and technology roadmaps
  • Lead cloud transformation initiatives, migrations, modernization programs, and infrastructure optimization projects
  • Establish cloud governance standards, operational policies, and architecture frameworks
  • Define long-term cloud vision and technology investment strategies

Infrastructure & Operations Management

  • Oversee cloud infrastructure operations, reliability, scalability, availability, and disaster recovery planning
  • Manage multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments where applicable
  • Ensure high availability and performance across cloud-based systems and services
  • Lead incident management, risk mitigation, and infrastructure resilience initiatives

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop cloud engineering, DevOps, infrastructure, and operations teams
  • Establish performance goals and support career development initiatives
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration among engineering, security, and product teams
  • Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement programs

Security & Compliance

  • Partner with security teams to ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards
  • Implement cloud security controls, access governance, and risk management frameworks
  • Support audit readiness, business continuity planning, and compliance initiatives

Financial & Vendor Management

  • Manage cloud budgets, cost optimization initiatives, and infrastructure investments
  • Monitor cloud utilization and identify cost reduction opportunities
  • Manage vendor relationships, licensing agreements, and strategic partnerships

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • 3 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, engineering, DevOps, or enterprise technology environments
  • 2 years of leadership experience managing cloud engineering or infrastructure teams
  • Strong experience leading enterprise cloud transformation initiatives
  • Deep knowledge of cloud architecture, infrastructure operations, and platform management
  • Experience with strategic planning, budgeting, and technology governance
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to lead distributed teams in remote environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code and automation tools including Terraform and Ansible
  • Knowledge of CI/CD environments and DevOps methodologies
  • Experience with enterprise security frameworks and compliance standards
  • Cloud certifications preferred, including AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud certifications
