Position: Security Architect - Consultant (Detection Engineer)

Location: Columbia, SC 29201 (Remote) Client: State of South Carolina Duration: 12+ Months

We're seeking a Security Architect - Consultant focused on detection engineering to support statewide security detection and response programs. This role involves designing and optimizing security detections, improving incident response capabilities, and working across multiple agencies to strengthen overall security posture. The position is fully remote with nationwide candidates considered.

Key Qualifications (5 Core Technical Skills):

• Detection engineering and incident response planning, including development and tuning of security detections and playbooks
• SIEM/EDR tooling expertise (design, deployment, rule creation, and alert management)
• Threat hunting, anomaly detection, and forensics to identify and investigate security events
• Cloud security (AWS/Azure) and cloud-native monitoring/telemetry integration
• Security architecture oversight with risk-based decision making, governance, and cross-team collaboration
