About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax Accountant to join our growing team. This role is ideal for someone with strong knowledge of tax preparation, compliance, payroll, and client support. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and comfortable managing multiple client accounts in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review tax returns
- Ensure tax filings are accurate and compliant with current tax laws and regulations
- Identify discrepancies, missing information, and potential compliance issues
- Provide feedback and recommendations for corrections or improvements
- Collaborate with preparers to resolve questions and finalize returns
- Handle IRS and state notices, including client communication and resolution support
- Prepare and file S-Elections and related entity elections
- Run payroll and ensure timely payroll tax filings
- Manage payroll tax registrations and compliance requirements
- Assist with other tax and accounting-related projects as needed
Qualifications
- Experience preparing and reviewing corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax compliance
- Experience handling payroll and payroll tax filings
- Familiarity with IRS notices and resolution processes
- Knowledge of S-Corp elections and entity structures
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and multiple client accounts
- Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, EA, or strong tax/accounting background preferred
- Experience with QuickBooks Online, Gusto, Intuit ProSeries and tax software platforms
- Previous experience in a public accounting or tax firm environment
