About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team in a fully remote capacity. This role offers the opportunity to work at a Series A LegalTech AI startup that is revolutionizing enterprise law firms' deal processes through innovative backend infrastructure and AI integration. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be instrumental in developing scalable, efficient, and reliable backend systems that support our cutting-edge AI products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in backend development, with experience in Golang or similar programming languages, and a keen interest in AI and Large Language Models (LLMs). This position provides the autonomy to lead greenfield projects, collaborate with a diverse team, and contribute directly to products used by enterprise clients across the globe.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years of professional experience in backend or full-stack development, with a focus on backend systems.
- Proficiency in Golang is preferred; candidates with experience in Python, Java, C, C++, C#, or Rust are also encouraged to apply.
- Strong understanding of modern backend technologies, cloud infrastructure, and container orchestration tools such as Kubernetes and GCP.
- Experience with databases, particularly Postgres, and familiarity with GitOps workflows, ArgoCD, and Temporal.
- Passion for AI, LLMs, or AI Agents, with a desire to innovate within the AI/LegalTech space.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset, with experience working in diverse, distributed teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems that power our AI-driven legaltech solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, AI researchers, and frontend developers, to deliver high-quality features.
- Implement and optimize backend APIs, data pipelines, and infrastructure to ensure reliability and performance.
- Work with cloud platforms such as GCP, utilizing Kubernetes, ArgoCD, and GitOps practices for deployment and management.
- Integrate AI models, including OpenAI and Anthropic, into backend systems to enhance product capabilities.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to uphold our high engineering standards.
- Stay current with emerging technologies in AI, backend development, and cloud infrastructure, applying best practices to our projects.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and pragmatic execution within a fast-paced startup environment.
