About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Scala Engineer to join our innovative team in a fully remote capacity. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in architecting and scaling our next-generation AI platform. You will collaborate closely with a talented team of engineers and machine learning specialists to develop and optimize backend services that power intelligent workflows. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a greenfield project, contributing to the development of scalable APIs, microservices, and infrastructure that support high-throughput data processing and AI orchestration. The ideal candidate will have a passion for building robust backend systems, a strong understanding of scalable architecture, and experience working with modern cloud and containerization technologies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience developing backend services using Scala, with a solid understanding of functional programming principles.
• Experience with Python is a plus, especially in AI or data processing contexts.
• Familiarity with frameworks and tools such as Akka, Play, ZIO, and SBT.
• Hands-on experience working with cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
• Proficiency with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kafka.
• Strong understanding of database systems, especially Postgres.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, ideally using GitHub Actions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable Scala-based microservices that handle high-volume data processing and AI workflows.
• Build and optimize APIs to support inference pipelines, data ingestion, and model lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with machine learning engineers to integrate models into production environments and ensure seamless deployment.
• Contribute to system architecture decisions, including database design and infrastructure automation.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline development, testing, and deployment processes.
• Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team.
• Ensure the security, reliability, and performance of backend services in a cloud environment.
