firstPRO is partnering with a highly respected, growth-oriented organization to identify a Director of Technology to lead enterprise technology strategy, application platforms, infrastructure operations, and AI-driven business transformation initiatives.
This is a hands-on technology leadership role for someone who has progressed from software development into leadership and still enjoys rolling up their sleeves to solve technical challenges. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of engineering expertise, operational leadership, architectural decision-making, and a passion for leveraging AI to drive meaningful business outcomes.
Reporting to executive leadership, this individual will be responsible for the performance, security, scalability, and modernization of the organization's technology ecosystem while leading a team of technology professionals and external partners.

Responsibilities
- Lead the overall technology function, including applications, infrastructure, security, and vendor management.
- Develop and execute technology strategies that support long-term business objectives.
- Manage and mentor internal technology team members while coordinating efforts with third-party vendors and service providers.
- Evaluate and implement AI-powered solutions, workflow automations, and emerging technologies that improve efficiency and business performance.
- Drive modernization initiatives across applications, systems, and technology platforms.
- Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities for process improvement and technology enablement.
- Oversee system reliability, performance, security, and operational excellence across the technology environment.
- Make strategic build-versus-buy decisions and evaluate technology investments.
- Support platform integrations and enterprise application enhancements.
- Manage technology vendors, contracts, hosting providers, and strategic technology partnerships.
- Establish technology governance, standards, and best practices.
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable solutions.
- Participate in architectural planning and technology roadmap development.
- Ensure technology operations remain aligned with business priorities and growth initiatives.
Requirements
Experience
- 8+ years of progressive technology experience with a foundation in software development.
- 3+ years of experience leading technology teams and managing cross-functional technology operations.
- Demonstrated success implementing AI-powered workflows, intelligent automation solutions, or agentic technologies in production environments.
- Experience managing enterprise applications, infrastructure, security initiatives, and vendor relationships.
- Proven ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical execution.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and business stakeholders alike.
Technical Skills
- Experience with modern software development environments and enterprise applications.
- Knowledge of application architecture, systems integration, and technology modernization initiatives.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience supporting infrastructure operations, hosting environments, and technology vendors.
- Understanding of security best practices and operational governance.
- Experience evaluating and implementing AI technologies, automation platforms, or intelligent workflow solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AI agent frameworks, LLM APIs, and workflow automation platforms.
- Familiarity with Microsoft technologies, including .NET-based environments.
- Working knowledge of legacy application environments and modernization strategies.
- Experience within education technology, learning platforms, training services, or similar industries.
- Background supporting enterprise-scale client-facing technology environments.
- Experience leading cloud migration or platform transformation initiatives.
