Vice President, Product & Technology

FranklinCovey (NYSE: FC) is seeking a Vice President, Product & Technology to lead the integrated product and technology strategy for education and enterprise solutions. This senior leadership role is responsible for the vision, strategy, and execution of platforms and experiences, including the Impact Platform, 4DXOS, and related technologies. The role also leads the cross-functional organization responsible for building and operating these platforms, encompassing Product Management, Design/UX, Data/Analytics, Engineering, and QA.

This is a unique opportunity to blend principles-based content, services, and platform experiences. The ideal candidate will be a systems thinker capable of connecting content, platform, and customer value to drive measurable business impact. As a peer on the executive team, this role will regularly represent product and technology strategy at the executive level and with the Board, playing a critical part in advancing FranklinCovey's mission at scale.

Essential Job Functions

Product & Technology Strategy

  • Define and communicate a cohesive product and technology vision and strategy aligned with company objectives.
  • Develop a multi-horizon roadmap, integrating near-term initiatives with long-term platform evolution.
  • Create a coherent portfolio by integrating content, services, and platform experiences for K--12 and enterprise markets.
  • Prioritize and sequence product and technology investments based on strategic importance, customer impact, and ROI.

Cross-Functional Product & Technology Leadership

  • Lead and scale a cross-functional organization (Product Management, Design/UX, Data/Analytics, Engineering, QA).
  • Establish and refine the operating model for cross-functional execution to drive predictable, high-quality outcomes.
  • Foster strong collaboration across disciplines for alignment of strategy, user experience, data insights, and technical architecture.
  • Build and maintain working norms, processes, and governance supporting innovation and disciplined delivery.

Engineering & Platform Ownership

  • Provide executive leadership for software platform engineering, including technical roadmap and architecture for core platforms.
  • Set standards for engineering excellence (code quality, testing, observability, documentation, security, operational practices).
  • Partner with infrastructure, DevOps, and security teams to ensure platform availability, performance, scalability, resilience, and security.
  • Guide system design and architecture decisions, balancing innovation with platform health and technical debt.

Data, Analytics & Insight

  • Oversee the data and analytics function to ground product and platform decisions in customer behavior and business outcomes.
  • Ensure telemetry and analytics are integrated into platforms for measuring engagement, learning impact, and customer value.
  • Utilize data to inform portfolio decisions, experiment design, product iteration, and continuous improvement.

Delivery Excellence & Operational Performance

  • Own the end-to-end product and technology delivery lifecycle.
  • Establish and track delivery and quality metrics to guide decision-making and improvements.
  • Ensure teams plan effectively, deliver predictably, and meet commitments while managing risk.
  • Refine processes (e.g., agile practices, release management) to support speed with safety.

Stakeholder & Executive Partnership

  • Partner with content, go-to-market, finance, and client success teams to align product direction with business goals.
  • Serve as the executive voice for product and technology, presenting strategy, status, and risks to the executive team and Board.
  • Build trust and alignment with regional leaders and stakeholders to support global and local needs.

Organization, Talent & Culture

  • Design and evolve the organizational structure and talent strategy for Product, Design/UX, Data/Analytics, Engineering, and QA.
  • Hire, develop, and retain high-performing leaders and teams.
  • Foster an inclusive, high-trust culture rooted in learning, accountability, experimentation, and continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Product Management) or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in product management, engineering, or related technology/product leadership roles.
  • 7+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams and managing senior leaders.
  • Experience owning both product and technology aspects of a portfolio.
  • Experience designing and executing product and platform strategies that deliver measurable business impact.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Hands-on experience in product or technology.
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable business impact through product and platform strategies.
  • Experience leading cross-functional organizations including Product, Design/UX, Data/Analytics, Engineering, and QA, ideally in a SaaS or platform context.
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling high-performing engineering and product teams shipping high-quality, cloud-based products.
  • Experience in education or learning technology (K--12 and/or enterprise).
  • Strong strategic, analytical, and systems-thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and executive presence, with experience operating as part of an executive team and presenting to Boards.
  • Proven ability to lead 0--1 initiatives and scale 1--10 programs.
  • Demonstrated skill in portfolio management, prioritization, and capital allocation.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and speed; ability to balance long-term vision with near-term delivery.
