Role Summary

A Firewall Engineer with expertise in Check Point technology is responsible for managing and supporting enterprise firewall operations within a complex IT environment. This role involves processing firewall requests, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the security and integrity of the organization's network infrastructure. The position offers a contract-to-hire pathway, with the potential for full-time employment after approximately six months, and requires a hybrid work schedule based in Tulsa, OK.

Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end firewall access requests using ServiceNow or equivalent ticketing systems.
  • Review, research, and validate firewall rule requests to ensure security compliance and accuracy.
  • Pre-stage and implement firewall policy changes in Check Point environments following established procedures.
  • Troubleshoot firewall connectivity, routing, and rule conflict issues to maintain network security and performance.
  • Provide operational support for enterprise firewall infrastructure within a BAU support model.
  • Collaborate with application, network, and security teams to gather requirements and resolve support issues.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders for request clarification and guidance.
  • Document procedures, changes, and adherence to firewall governance and policy standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for firewall operational workflows and processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of firewall technologies and best practices to optimize security operations.

Qualifications

  • Proven hands-on experience administering Check Point firewalls in an enterprise setting.
  • Extensive experience processing firewall access requests in structured high-volume environments.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP protocols, ports, and network traffic analysis.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills related to firewall policies, NAT, and traffic flow.
  • Experience operating within change management frameworks, preferably using ServiceNow.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with technical teams and internal customers.
  • Relevant Check Point certifications such as CCSA or CCSE are preferred.
  • Basic scripting or automation knowledge with tools like Python or PowerShell is a plus.
  • Experience working in regulated industries such as healthcare or financial services is advantageous.

Compensation and Schedule

  • Pay Range: $50.00 to $54.43 hourly
  • Schedule: This position offers a hybrid schedule, with time split between the office and remote work.
