Job Description
The Health Informatics Specialist III is an experienced informatics nurse and internal consultant who partners with Clinical, Business, and DTS teams to support the design, implementation, adoption, and interoperability of clinical and non-clinical information systems. This role is directly engaged in enterprise, capital, and operational projects, utilizing process improvement and change management techniques to reduce harm and risk, improve workflows, and evaluate technology effectiveness.
Job Responsibilities
Leadership
- Serves as a liaison between Digital & Technology Services and end users (nursing, providers, allied health, non-clinical).
- Develops and maintains effective partnerships with clinical and operational leadership.
- Analyzes Digital & Technology Services to determine applicability to clinical practice, operations, administration, and research.
- Leads unit-level core and sub-teams for operational and implementation work.
- Consults on healthcare information problems and defines methods for implementing and modifying DTS solutions.
- Communicates with key stakeholders and sponsors regarding project updates and initiatives.
- Serves as a preceptor for graduate informatics students.
- Partners for clinical communication and offers guidance on clinical workflow processes during downtime and EHR reconciliation.
Change & Quality Management
- Demonstrates knowledge of system life cycles and complies with frameworks for system implementation.
- Operationalizes change using quality methodologies to standardize processes in accordance with evidence, quality initiatives, and regulatory compliance.
- Develops risk/benefit matrices to assist clinical partners with decision-making.
- Collaborates with clinical partners for problem identification and documentation of current and future state requirements.
- Assists with project and operational testing.
- Performs gap analyses to identify solutions and mitigate risks.

- Telehealth implementation experience.

- Capability Transfer: Mentor EHI team members, create reusable templates, develop workflow standards, document lessons learned, and train internal resources.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- At least five (5) years of nursing, clinical, or operational experience.
- At least three (3) years of informatics experience.
- Evidence of progressive leadership skills.
- Experience supporting complex clinical and operational workflows (e.g., revenue cycle, patient access, ancillary services, scheduling, capacity management).
- Epic experience.
- Ambulatory operations.
- Paediatric experience.
- Digital patient engagement and change management.
- Virtual nursing and AI-enabled virtual care.
- Consumer digital health strategy.
Responsibilities
Process Improvement
- Serves as a project consultant in the design and implementation of complex Digital & Technology Services process improvement projects.
- Expert ability to work with internal customers: document current state, define future state requirements, create workflow recommendations, analyze gaps, and collaborate with other Epic modules.
- Demonstrates understanding of data and data quality standards.
- Supports the integration of data, information, and knowledge for decision support and business intelligence tools.
- Develops auditing and review processes to ensure project goals are met.
- Participates in Epic Vendor visits.
Research & Education
- Provides support to nursing research and assists clinical nurses in utilizing research and evidence-based practice.
- Assists with the development of training materials and provides on-going support of clinical Digital & Technology Services.
- Participates in scholarly activities (e.g., writing for publication, presenting at national conferences).
Education
- Bachelor's Degree.
