Genesis10 is currently seeking an Infrastructure Engineer (Cloud) for a hybrid position (3 days/week onsite) with a Renowned Healthcare Organization located in Rochester, MN; Jacksonville, FL; Scottsdale, AZ; Eau Claire, WI; La Crosse, WI; or Mankato, MN. This is a 6 month contract-to-hire opportunity.
Pay range: $69.00 - $73.00 per hour, W2.
This role is part of a strategic, enterprise-scale initiative to design, deploy, and operationalize a multi-cloud API gateway platform across Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure (AKS), and on-premises data centers. The contractor will embed within the API Platform Engineering team to build and stabilize the infrastructure, which includes a parallel edge routing and security implementation.
Responsibilities
- Managing containers: Apigee is running on Google Cloud (ApigeeX). They have multiple clouds each with services on them (AWS, Azure, on-prem). To secure the API that the apps are creating, they want to put the Apigee runtime in each one of those clouds. You will help create those containers, connect them to Google's Apigee X control plane, and work with other tools like Noname to identify teams running APIs that are documented, then help put those on a regex proxy.
- Provision and administer Kubernetes clusters across AKS, GKE/GKS, and on-premises platforms.
- Deploy Apigee Hybrid runtime components and Akamai Noname remote engines on target Kubernetes environments.
- Establish and validate secure, outbound-only control plane connectivity from Hybrid runtimes to the centralized Google Cloud Platform Control Plane.
- Configure Azure and Google Cloud Platform networking to support multi-cloud traffic flows.
- Author and maintain Terraform / Infrastructure as Code (IaC) modules for repeatable deployments.
- Integrate Apigee Hybrid and Akamai telemetry with enterprise observability and SIEM platforms.
- Support production readiness reviews, stabilization, go-live activities, incident response, and runtime upgrades.
- Produce comprehensive technical documentation such as runbooks, SOPs, and architecture diagrams.
- Navigate governance, change management, and approval processes for infrastructure changes.
- Collaborate with external implementation partners and coordinate with edge platform teams to ensure infrastructure readiness.
Requirements
- 3 years of hands-on experience administering Kubernetes clusters (AKS required; GKE/GKS and on-premises Kubernetes strongly preferred).
- Experience with node pool management, namespace isolation, resource quotas, RBAC, and cluster upgrades.
- Hands-on experience administering Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure (specifically AKS and Azure networking) environments.
- Proficiency with Terraform or equivalent IaC tooling for multi-cloud deployments.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure changes (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
- Experience with or exposure to Apigee Hybrid architecture and edge platform integration (Akamai preferred).
- Understanding of traffic flow architecture where edge platforms are authoritative entry points and API gateways enforce policy.
- Experience integrating infrastructure and application telemetry with enterprise observability and SIEM platforms.
- Self-directed problem solver with a milestone-driven delivery mindset.
- Ability to manage and troubleshoot infrastructure spanning cloud and on-premises environments simultaneously.
- Excellent documentation and partner engagement skills.
Desired Skills
- Prior experience working in healthcare or similarly regulated environments (HIPAA, SOC 2).
- Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect or Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer certification.
- Microsoft Azure AZ-104 (Azure Administrator) or AZ-305 (Azure Solutions Architect) certification.
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD).
- Experience with Apigee Hybrid installation, configuration, and operations.
- Experience deploying or managing Akamai Noname (API security) remote engines.
- Familiarity with GitOps patterns (ArgoCD, Flux) for Kubernetes-based deployments.
- Experience with Anthos, Rancher, or OpenShift for on-premises Kubernetes.
Only candidates available and ready to work directly as Genesis10 employees will be considered for this position.
