Senior Business Systems Analyst

Department: Information Technology Status: Exempt Job Code: 4509 Pay Scale: $102,000.00 - $110,000.00 Annually

General Description

The Senior Business Systems Analyst is responsible for translating business data needs into data warehousing and reporting solutions through close collaboration with business teams to identify business requirements enabling data driven decision making throughout the enterprise.

Tasks, Duties, Functions

  1. Cover all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) regarding data warehousing and reporting solutions, including requirements analysis, report content/functionality analysis, and SDLC documentation.
  2. Determine and recommend reporting enhancements or improvements using enterprise business intelligence tools to boost operational efficiency.
  3. Document business requirements (BRDs) and functional design specifications (FRDs) for conversions, interfaces, and reports.
  4. Drive efficient joint business/IT requirements and solution discussions.
  5. Identify functional gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  6. Coordinate and drive issue resolution with cross-functional teams during design and development.
  7. Work with users to define and document use cases, scenarios, and test scripts.
  8. Prepare and execute test plans to ensure solutions meet business requirements.
  9. Create documentation for processes, training, and operational support.
  10. Ensure requirements are delivered in timely stages to support design and development progress.
  11. Maintain understanding of state and federal laws related to credit union compliance, including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws.
  12. Ensure solutions follow established guidelines.
  13. Research, define, and evaluate data requirements for departmental projects.
  14. Perform evaluations of data and data structures from disparate systems.
  15. Mentor and train other Business Systems Analysts as needed.
  16. Act as a liaison between business clients and technical staff throughout project lifecycles.
  17. Stay current with technology trends, solutions, and vendors.
  18. Perform other job-related duties as necessary.

Physical Skills, Abilities, and Exertion

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Occasional local, statewide, and inter-state travel may be required.
  • Periodically work extended and weekend hours.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment (PC, copy/fax machines, telephones).

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in business requirements analysis and data analysis.
  • High intermediate to expert SQL skills are required.
  • Experience with data modeling, data quality analysis, and report development is desired.
  • Understanding of enterprise application landscapes and data flow is critical.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proficient in analyzing data with SQL, TSQL, PSQL, or Excel.
  • Ability to analyze complex data models with little supervision.
  • Scripting experience (Bash, PowerShell, Python, or Perl) is desired.
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Project and program management capabilities.
  • Proven experience in system and integration testing.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and influence skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Carry and respond to a cell phone 7 days a week.
  • Prolonged sitting throughout the day.
  • Ability to operate computer hardware, software, and hand tools.
  • Corrected vision and hearing in the normal range.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, and standing on a stepladder.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Advanced technical and/or project management certifications (Desired).
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP).
