Job description
Responsibilities
- Ensures efficient operation and physical design of databases
- Conducts performance tuning for indexes and overall database performance
- Reviews database designs and integrates systems, while providing backup recovery and suggesting enhancements
- Maintains security protocols and integrity controls
- Develops policies, procedures, and standards for database management, while monitoring transaction activity and resource utilization
- May create stored procedures and triggers
- Manages various database systems, including Oracle and other Database Management Systems (DBMS)
- Establishes and enforces database administration protocols and user guidelines; audits and modifies data using Oracle/SQL/PL/SQL
- Coordinates the scheduling of database projects, transaction log backups, notifications, and replication across SQL Servers and remote sites
- Collaborates with Database Designers and Information System Analysts in creating SQL and web-based databases
- Evaluates technical designs, reports, and documentation generated by team members; develops and maintains high-level reporting systems using tools like Crystal Reports; researches and adopts new database and online technologies
Requirements
Must have:
- Clearance Required: TS/SCI - DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II (Sec+CE, SSCP, CND, CCNA Security, etc)
- Extensive knowledge of Oracle Database Architecture (12c, 19c, 21c) as well as SQL and PL/SQL
- Proficient in Linux/Unix environments
- High School degree with over 10 years of relevant experience or equivalent expertise
- Familiarity with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Data Pump, and SQL Developer is preferred
- Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies (RMAN) is a plus
- Experience managing Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) is advantageous
- Experience with migration from on-premise systems to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is desirable
