Software Quality Assurance Engineer and Tester

About the Role

GovCIO is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to join a fast-paced team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with manual testing in a federal government client environment. This customer-facing role is instrumental in ensuring customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer with government contracting experience. The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years of hands-on experience, a strong understanding of Amazon Webservices (AWS), and Jira. Experience with X-ray is a plus.

  • Develop, publish, and implement test plans for complex, multi-tier, distributed applications throughout the full lifecycle.
  • Develop manual or automated testing systems using commercial tools, scripts, and data sets.
  • Participate in all aspects of testing, including functional, regression, load, and system testing.
  • Ensure the appropriate level of quality by resolving important defects, working with developers and/or engineers to ensure the software or hardware development process has an appropriate level of testing.
  • Develop response strategies and processes for high-criticality and security vulnerability-related bug notifications.
  • Pro-actively investigate and find potential security holes and attack vectors within both existing and newly developed code bases.
  • Work within Agile/Scrum methodologies in iterative development cycles with cross-functional teams.
  • Communicate effectively with federal clients, developers, and program managers.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field, or commensurate experience.
  • 8+ years of experience.
  • 4 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
  • Experience with Jira, X-ray, and AWS.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, specifically Kanban.

Clearance Required:

  • Must be able to obtain a DHS Public Trust.
  • US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in AWS.

Posted Salary Range:

USD $110,000.00 - USD $123,000.00 /Yr.
