Job description

Staff Data Scientist, Product

Remote (U.S.) | Up to $215,000 Equity

We're partnering with a rapidly scaling, product-led SaaS company investing heavily in its next evolution of data-driven decision-making.

This is a Staff-level individual contributor role operating at the intersection of product, experimentation, and strategic analytics---ideal for someone who wants to shape how an organization understands causality, not just correlation.

The Role

You'll act as a senior thought partner to Product and Executive Leadership , owning the company's approach to experimentation, causal inference, and product measurement.

This is less about maintaining dashboards---and more about defining truth in the data, influencing road map decisions, and embedding rigorous experimentation into the DNA of the business.

Where You'll Make an Impact

Experimentation & Causal Inference (Core Focus)

  • Define and lead the company-wide experimentation strategy, focusing on high-leverage product and growth initiatives
  • Design and analyze advanced experiments (A/B, multivariate, adaptive), including Bayesian approaches and sequential testing
  • Apply causal inference methods (DiD, PSM, synthetic control, instrumental variables) where experimentation isn't feasible
  • Move the organization beyond surface-level metrics toward true impact measurement

Product & Customer Insights

  • Partner closely with Product, Design, and Engineering to uncover non-obvious user behavior and growth levers
  • Own and evolve KPI frameworks, connecting product signals to revenue, retention, and long-term value
  • Lead deep-dive analyses across churn, engagement, and life-cycle dynamics

Platform & Capability Building

  • Help scale self-serve experimentation and reusable analytical frameworks in partnership with Data Engineering
  • Introduce modern approaches to causal ML and experimentation infrastructure

Influence & Scope

  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership and C-suite, translating complex analysis into clear decisions
  • Drive the shift toward a truly experimentation-led culture across the business.
  • Mentor and elevate other Data Scientists in statistical rigor and causal thinking.

What You Bring

Experience

  • 6 years in Product Data Science, Economics, or applied ML roles
  • Proven track record influencing product or growth strategy through experimentation and causal inference.
  • Experience in B2B SaaS or product-led growth environments strongly preferred

Technical Depth

  • Advanced expertise in:
  • Experimentation design and analysis (incl. CUPED, interference, power calculations)
  • Causal inference methods across experimental and quasi-experimental settings
  • Statistical modeling and exploratory analysis
  • Strong hands-on skills in Python (or R) and SQL
  • Familiarity with modern data tooling (dbt, Airflow, Data-bricks)

Who You Are

  • A first-principles thinker who challenges how metrics are defined and used
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and high-autonomy environments.
  • Able to balance technical depth with executive-level storytelling
  • Motivated by impact, not just model performance

Why This Role

  • Shape the future of experimentation and causal inference at scale
  • Partner directly with product leadership and executives on critical decisions
  • Join a company that values data---but is ready to take it to the next level
  • Fully remote across the U.S., with strong compensation (up to $215K equity)
