Role Overview

As a Medical Procedure Scheduler - PRN, you will be responsible for scheduling patient testing, procedures, and admissions. You will also obtain pre-cert/authorization numbers, enter them into the scheduling or registration system, manage accurate insurance information, and handle incoming phone calls.

What you will do in this role

  • Answer incoming calls in a timely and professional manner.
  • Schedule all patients for ancillary, surgical, and medical testing/procedures through the applicable scheduling module (e.g., Meditech).
  • Select accurate insurance carrier plans and inform the patient or physician office staff of any out-of-network carriers.
  • Inform physician office staff or patients of testing requirements according to scheduling module instructions.
  • Ensure all edits are performed in the scheduling module and physician orders are indexed appropriately.
  • Maintain knowledge of scheduling reports for the next day to ensure department readiness during potential Meditech downtime.
  • Work closely with physician office staff to ensure pre-cert/authorization numbers are entered correctly.
  • Consistently select the correct patient medical record number.
  • Maintain open communication with registration staff regarding unscheduled patients to ensure appropriate testing and availability.
  • Utilize appropriate tools to communicate with Patient Access and other facility departments.
  • Edit medical accounts to appropriate status and index physician orders per facility and SSC standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of related experience required, preferably in medical procedure scheduling.
  • Work-from-home employees must have wired high-speed internet (25 MB Download / 15 MB Upload).
  • Must live within a 60-mile radius of an HCA Hospital in one of the following states: FL, GA, ID, KS, KY, MO, NV, NH, NC, SC, TN, TX, UT, or VA.
