Position Overview
Our Client is a fast-growing, highly reputable personal injury law firm based in Kansas City, Missouri, dedicated to helping injured individuals recover and rebuild their lives. Unlike traditional, rigid firms, they foster a progressive corporate culture anchored in empowerment, collaboration, lifelong learning, and a true work-life balance. They heavily leverage specialized cloud-based case management software to run an organized, high-efficiency practice where independent ownership and professional empathy are deeply valued.
The Role
Our Client is seeking a proactive, detail-obsessed Bilingual Legal Assistant to serve as a critical operational pillar for their expanding practice. This role is far more than rote data entry; it is a high-touch position requiring a professional who thrives on problem-solving, values high administrative standards, and can naturally empathize with clients navigating traumatic lifecycle events. The successful candidate will independently manage complex documentation requests, organize firm calendars, and act as a primary, fluent point of contact for Spanish-speaking clients, medical providers, and legal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management & Intake Operations
- Processes and addresses individual task lists autonomously via the firm's centralized case management system each day.
- Conducts regular phone updates and remote check-in meetings with clients, translating complex legal timelines into clear, reassuring updates.
- Responds to all incoming digital correspondence and telephone calls within a strict 24-hour window using a composed, solution-oriented approach.
- Handles relentless administrative follow-up with third-party vendors and institutions to keep cases moving forward dynamically.
Legal Documentation & Records Procurement
- Drafts, proofreads, and edits foundational legal correspondence, including formal letters of representation.
- Manages the end-to-end procurement process for essential case assets, including medical records, detailed medical bills, wage loss documentation, and specialized physician reports.
- Maintains flawless digital client files and structures firm calendars to track critical deadlines, court filings, and deposition schedules.
Qualifications, Skills, and Key Competencies
Required Qualifications
- Language: Flawless, native-level bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (both written and verbal) is an absolute requirement. Must be capable of translating legal terminology accurately.
- Technical Savvy: High proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat DC, legal research tools, and cloud-based database systems.
- Administrative Discipline: An exceptional eye for detail, with a strict "worth doing right every time" approach to file organization and document proofreading.
- Resilience & Empathy: Proven ability to remain level-headed, patient, and cool under pressure when communicating with individuals experiencing severe physical or emotional trauma.
- Autonomous Execution: A strategic mind that takes immediate initiative, thrives without micromanagement, and independently researches answers to complex tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior professional experience working within a US-based law firm, with a strong preference for personal injury litigation practices.
- Direct, hands-on experience utilizing Filevine case management software is a major competitive advantage.
