About the Practice

Holistic Wellness & Psychiatry, an integrative psychiatry practice in Cedar Rapids, IA, is looking for an experienced medical biller for a short-term contract role starting immediately to help clear a claims backlog while we transition to a new billing company.

Engagement Details

Type: 1099 contractor, fully remote
Hours: Estimated 15-25 hours over 2-3 weeks (flexible scheduling)
Start Date: ASAP — within 1-2 business days of hire
End Date: When our new RCM vendor goes live (target: ~3 weeks)

Scope of Work

Review and submit completed claims from our EHR (IntakeQ)
Flag and prioritize claims at risk of timely-filing limits
Submit clean claims electronically via clearinghouse
Light denial follow-up on rejected submissions
Coordinate handoff with incoming billing vendor at end of engagement

Required Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of experience in outpatient medical billing
Behavioral health / psychiatry billing experience strongly preferred
Familiarity with E/M codes and psychotherapy add-ons (90833/90836/90838)
Comfortable working independently and remotely
Willingness to sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) before accessing PHI

Nice to Have

Spravato (esketamine) / ketamine billing experience
IntakeQ experience
Iowa Medicaid / Wellmark BCBS familiarity

Compensation

Pay Rate: $50.00 - $75.00 per hour, depending on experience
Payment Schedule: Paid weekly via 1099
Benefits: Flexible schedule
