Role Description
In the Wake TV is seeking an After Effects Expert for a remote contract role. The After Effects Expert will create, animate, and refine motion graphics packages for news clips, including lower thirds, transitions, titles, and visual effects that support clear storytelling.
Day-to-day work includes:
- Taking creative briefs.
- Designing and animating graphic elements.
- Editing and compositing assets.
- Optimizing templates for efficient use across multiple videos.
The role also involves collaborating with producers and editors to ensure brand consistency, adapting graphics to different formats and platforms, and delivering files on schedule. The ideal contractor is detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, digital-first environment.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Adobe After Effects, including animation, compositing, and template creation.
- Proficiency with related tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and Illustrator for video and graphics workflows.
- Experience designing motion graphics for news, social media, or short-form video content.
- Ability to interpret creative briefs and translate them into clear, engaging visual stories.
- Strong sense of timing, pacing, and typography in motion design.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, work independently in a remote environment, and communicate clearly with distributed teams.
- Portfolio demonstrating After Effects work, preferably including news or digital content samples.
- Familiarity with current social and digital video formats, aspect ratios, and platform best practices (e.g., YouTube, TikTok, Instagram).
- Experience in a newsroom, media, or digital content environment is a plus.
- Relevant education or training in motion design, animation, film, or a related field is beneficial but not required with strong experience.
