Mainframe COBOL Developer - W2 Only

Remote

Duration: 9 Months Contract

Job Description:

The role involves maintaining and enhancing critical production systems while contributing to smaller short-term projects. The candidate will collaborate closely with development, operations, QA teams, and business stakeholders.

The project includes production system backfill, enhancements to existing applications, and participation in short-term initiatives. The candidate will work with customers, development staff, operational teams, and QA personnel to ensure system reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Medicaid Services MMIS and MEDS teams to implement coding changes in COBOL and ADS programs.
  • Work with IDMS Network and IDMS Relational databases based on technical and design specifications.
  • Perform debugging, unit testing, and integration testing for all code changes.
  • Support QA, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and External Testing by addressing defects and implementing required updates.
  • Communicate effectively with agency staff and other contracted resources.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support production systems.
  • Ensure adherence to coding standards, change management, and documentation practices.

  • 10 years of JCL
  • 10 years of IDMS/Network
  • 10 years of DB2
  • 7 years of CA-ADS
  • 5 years of Changeman
  • 5 years of CICS
  • 5 years of VSAM

Preferred Skills

  • SAS
  • File-Aid
  • Medicaid or Medicare claims processing experience
  • MQ
  • Endevor
  • Xpeditor
