Backend Java Engineer

Job Description

Our client is looking for a strong Backend Java Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and documenting the back-end services for the their mobile app and website while coaching and mentoring junior resources and collaborating with other team members and stakeholders.

You will also:

• Drive best practices
• Ensure the technical feasibility of integrations
• Optimize the application for maximum speed, scalability, and reliability
• Investigate and utilize Google Cloud Platform services to continuously improve application architecture
• Implement microservices using Java and Quarkus framework
• Propose and enhance automation initiatives related to infrastructure as code, CI/CD, monitoring and alerting
• Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle

This is an established company and environment with a start up feel so you must be able work in a fast paced environment and used to timelines that are in days instead of weeks. This role is fully remote as a contractor and long term. The hourly compensation ranges from $50-55/hour depending upon years of experience.

Skills and Requirements

• 8 years of experience as a backend engineer within a Java environment
• Java version 17 and above
• Multi Cloud experience (GCP, AWS, Azure)
• Interest in working with modern tools & Technologies
• Open-source Java framework experience (Quarkus, Spring)
• Microservices experience
• Able to work in a very fast paced environment
• Experience and willingness to be testing your own code - Payments or AdTech experience
• Terraform experience
• Start up experience
