Backend Java Engineer - INTL Mexico

Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a staff-level, fully remote Backend Java Developer based in Mexico. This engineer will own backend components supporting the sourcing organization, focusing on building foundational platforms for multiple downstream teams. The role involves enabling machine learning systems for reliable production deployment, including support for monitoring and lifecycle workflows. Responsibilities include modernizing and refactoring existing Java services for scalability, and contributing to system design with a focus on high availability, fault tolerance, performance, and security. The engineer will also contribute to technical roadmaps and architectural direction while maintaining high code quality and testing standards, and will mentor through collaboration and technical discussions. Success requires operating independently in a fast-changing environment with minimal day-to-day direction.

This role focuses on building and maintaining backend Java services for future AI and machine learning use cases in sourcing. Daily tasks include designing platform components, integrating ML outputs into production systems, deploying services to the cloud, and enhancing reliability and performance. The engineer will work independently, collaborate with senior Java and ML engineers, and prototype new solutions for ambiguous problems.

Compensation:

$25/hr to $27/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and education.

Skills and Requirements:

• 7+ years of software experience
• Extensive experience with Java (versions 11+), HTML, Prometheus, Quarkus, C*, Cassandra, Spring Boot, CSS, and Javascript/Typescript frameworks
• Experience with an object-oriented programming language (preferably Java)
• Experience with Relational or NoSQL database technology
• Experience with cloud computing techniques
• Experience with CI/CD tools
• Experience with modern software design patterns
• Experience bringing ML models to production
• Experience in cloud-based technologies and deployments (Google Cloud Platform preferred, AWS or Azure)
• Experience in effective data modeling with Relational and NoSQL databases
• Experience with security frameworks for user and services authorization and authentication
• Experience with creating and executing various tests (unit, functional, destructive, performance)
• Experience with modern debugging and root cause analysis techniques
• Experience with version control systems
• Experience in designing systems for High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Performance, Efficiency, and Security
• Exposure to developing technical roadmaps, including work estimation, refactoring, and modernizing legacy systems
• Supply Chain Background
• Previous work experience at The Home Depot
