Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join a collaborative, fully remote team supporting enterprise-level accounting and financial reporting functions. This role has contract-to-hire potential and is best suited for someone who can quickly get up to speed in a fast-moving environment while balancing hands-on accounting work with people leadership.

The position is with a leading infrastructure construction and engineering firm in North America, known for its expertise in designing and building critical infrastructure such as highways, bridges, rail systems, dams, aviation facilities, and water management projects. While the role is fully remote, candidates located in or near Atlanta, GA are preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing bank and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the Shared Services team to ensure accuracy and completeness, documenting and resolving any identified action items.
  • Preparing and reviewing intercompany billings and reconciling intercompany clearing accounts.
  • Posting routine monthly journal entries such as accruals, amortizations, and true-ups.
  • Coordinating audit support by gathering, validating, and maintaining accurate backup documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Working closely with cross-functional partners including Treasury, Accounts Payable, Payroll, IT, and Field Finance to address questions and support business needs.
  • Handling ad-hoc accounting requests and assisting with month-end close activities as needed.

Targeting $32-35/hour.

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an established, accredited four-year public or private university.
  • 1-2 years of accounting experience within a mid- to large-sized organization.
  • Open to candidates with internship-only experience if the internship(s) were substantive (minimum 3-6+ months) and demonstrated strong hands-on accounting exposure.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles, reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate in a remote, Teams-based environment.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and build relationships with stakeholders outside of accounting.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
