Job description

Company Description

Ironveil Game Studio is an independent game development studio focused on creating immersive, system-driven interactive experiences. Specializing in systems-oriented gameplay, Ironveil combines tactical depth with engaging worldbuilding to reward strategic thinking and mastery.

Our current project, Abyssfall: The Black Citadel, is a 2D tower defense game featuring real-time combat, RPG-style progression, and player-controlled abilities. As an early-stage studio based in San Diego, CA, we are focused on building strong gameplay systems, clear visual identity, and growing a long-term community around the game.

Role Description

This is a part-time, remote role. The role involves helping grow the online presence of Abyssfall: The Black Citadel through social media content, short-form videos, community engagement, and marketing support.

You will work directly with the founder to help shape the public identity of the game and assist in building an audience throughout development.

Role Details

  • Part-time: 20 hours per week
  • Compensation: $17/hour
  • Duration: 8-12 weeks based on needs
  • Location: Remote, flexible schedule
  • Start: Immediate

Responsibilities

  • Create and edit short-form content for TikTok, X/Twitter, YouTube Shorts, and other platforms.
  • Design posters.
  • Assist with social media posting and community engagement.
  • Help create marketing materials, thumbnails, captions, and promotional assets.
  • Brainstorm and execute content ideas related to gameplay systems, worldbuilding, and development progress.
  • Track engagement and identify content that performs well.
  • Support Steam page visibility and future promotional efforts.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program in Marketing, Communications, Business, Media, Design, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and short-form content creation.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Interest in video games and game development.
  • Must be based in the US and not require sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience editing short-form videos (TikTok, Reels, Shorts).
  • Familiarity with Canva, Photoshop, CapCut, Premiere Pro, or similar tools.
  • Interest in RPGs, strategy games, or tabletop-inspired fantasy settings.
  • Personal or academic content creation experience.

Important Notes

  • This role is heavily execution-focused and involves creating content consistently throughout development.
  • Speed, creativity, and consistency are more important than highly polished corporate-style marketing.
  • You will work closely with the founder and contribute directly to the public-facing growth of the project.
  • This is an early-stage project environment, so adaptability and self-management are important.

Ideal Candidate

This role is ideal for students or early-career marketers who want hands-on experience growing a game from an early stage, building a real portfolio of published marketing work, and working closely with a founder on a live game project.
