Position Overview

The Accounting Assistant plays an important role in supporting the financial and administrative operations of the organization by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with daily accounting tasks, and helping ensure smooth office operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Process invoices, payments, deposits, and expense reports accurately and in a timely manner
  • Reconcile financial transactions, bank statements, and account discrepancies
  • Maintain organized financial files and supporting documentation
  • Enter and update accounting data within financial software systems
  • Assist with payroll support and employee record maintenance as needed
  • Monitor outstanding balances and assist with payment follow-up activities
  • Prepare spreadsheets, financial summaries, and routine reports for management
  • Coordinate with vendors, staff, and families regarding billing or payment questions
  • Support month-end and year-end accounting processes
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial, employee, and family information
  • Provide general administrative support to assist daily office operations

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
  • 1--2 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or administrative experience preferred
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar systems preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and time management abilities

Pay: $23.64 - $28.47 per hour
