Data Scientist

Location: Durham, NC (Hybrid) Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with flexibility for additional hours as needed.

LabCorp is seeking a Data Scientist to develop innovative AI/ML solutions that drive business value. This role involves exploratory data analysis, machine learning model development and implementation, and delivering data-driven solutions in a collaborative environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to data science projects throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Implement and validate machine learning models to solve business problems.
  • Analyze datasets to identify patterns and insights.
  • Translate technical concepts for stakeholders.
  • Apply appropriate machine learning techniques to address business needs.
  • Create data visualizations to communicate findings.
  • Stay current with advancements in AI/ML.
  • Collaborate with team members on solution development.

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

  • Regular computer use (6-8 hours daily).
  • Ability to understand complex scientific directions.

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field with 2 years of relevant data science experience, OR Master's degree with 0-1 years of experience.
  • 2 years of Python programming experience.
  • Experience contributing to data science or analytics projects.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of machine learning techniques (classification, regression, basic deep learning).
  • Solid understanding of statistical analysis and data preprocessing.
  • Ability to work with structured data and common data formats.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
  • Adherence to best practices in model development and implementation.

Technologies and Tools

  • Required: Python, SQL, basic data visualization skills.
  • Desirable: Familiarity with AWS services.
  • Relevant Packages: Scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy, basic TensorFlow/PyTorch, Matplotlib/Seaborn/Plotly.
