The Role
Purpose: As a Senior Sales Development Representative, you will be at the forefront of building Shape's pipeline. This role involves not just executing outreach but also helping to define our go-to-market strategy. You'll own the generation of high-quality opportunities, refine messaging, and influence our scaling approach. There is potential for growth into a broader, more strategic role as the function evolves.
Team: You'll join our Growth team, collaborating closely with sales, marketing, and product experts to communicate Shape's value and connect with potential users of our game-changing platform.
Top Responsibilities:
- Open Doors: Proactively identify and engage construction teams, introduce Shape, and schedule introductory calls to demonstrate how our product can transform their project delivery performance. A strong comfort and enthusiasm for cold calling are essential.
- Refine Outreach Strategy: Utilize data and insights to continuously improve our approach, experimenting with messaging, channels, and engagement tactics for maximum impact.
- Collaborate: Work closely with marketing, product, and customer success teams to align efforts, share feedback, and ensure effective outreach.
- Grow Yourself and Others: Engage in continuous learning and development, sharpening sales skills, sharing best practices, and contributing to building a world-class growth function.
- Shape Scaling: Apply your experience in building outreach processes and systems to help refine our SDR engine as we expand our services and client base.
Your Capabilities: You are a high-energy, people-focused sales professional who views sales as a means of helping others. You excel at connecting with people, asking insightful questions, and sparking interest naturally. Your goal is to help potential customers understand how we can transform their work.
Required:
- Mastery: Proven B2B sales experience, ideally in SaaS or construction tech, with an understanding of engaging decision-makers.
- Communication: Confident and engaging communicator, adept at simplifying complex ideas. Comfortable interacting with both hands-on construction teams and senior business leaders, building relationships with an empathetic, humanistic approach.
- Leadership: Takes ownership, is resilient to rejection, and views "no" as an opportunity to continue the conversation. Enjoys experimenting with new connection methods.
- Impact: Ability to discern underlying needs, identify opportunities, and adapt strategies based on performance. Focuses on opening doors, not just booking meetings.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with full-cycle/360 sales.
- Expertise in construction or digital project delivery (or a strong willingness to learn).
- Mastery in influencing and persuasion, with a network in the construction and/or tech start-up industries.
- Early leadership or people management experience, with a desire to coach or mentor others.
- A role in shaping how construction teams adopt technology, building relationships, and gathering insights to drive industry change.
