The Role

Lantern is looking for a Data Engineer II to join our Data Engineering team. The ideal candidate will have solid experience building data pipelines, working with batch processing frameworks, and applying data modeling techniques to support reliable data ingestion and exports.

Location: Hybrid - at least 4 days/wk in our Dallas, TX office

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement robust, scalable, and high-performance data pipelines.
  • Implement data ingestion, transformation, and data quality features.
  • Collaborate with the Data Engineering Manager and Product teams to build data models.
  • Develop and maintain robust data export solutions.
  • Contribute to design documents, technology assessments, and Proof of Concepts (PoCs).
  • Support production jobs and mitigate issues in a timely manner.
  • Write unit, integration, and functional tests.
  • Contribute to the technology roadmap, PR reviews, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer building and supporting production pipelines.
  • 1+ years of experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred, AWS, or GCP).
  • Hands-on experience with Spark, Python, and SQL.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or other relational databases.
  • Experience with big data technologies (Spark, Databricks, or similar).
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform).
  • Experience contributing to data lake or lakehouse solutions.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Preferred: Experience with HL7, X12 EDI, FHIR, RESTful APIs, or Power BI.
