Job description

Ledgebrook is building something different.

We're an InsurTech MGA modernizing Specialty insurance --- not with buzzwords, but with real underwriting expertise paired with purpose-built technology. Backed by Brand Foundry, American Family Ventures, Duquesne Family Office and Stephens Group, we're rolling out new Specialty products at pace and building toward becoming a full-stack re/insurer.

But growth without discipline isn't interesting.

That's where you come in.

The Opportunity

This isn't a compliance policing role.

It's about elevating underwriting performance across General Liability and Excess Liability --- ensuring every file reflects strong risk judgment, clear rationale, and disciplined execution.

You'll sit within our Underwriting Excellence team, reviewing files, identifying trends, and delivering feedback that actually makes underwriters better. Your work will directly impact portfolio quality, stakeholder confidence, and long-term profitability.

If you care deeply about underwriting craft --- and you know how to give feedback without ego --- you'll thrive here.

What You'll Do

Audit & Insight

  • Review underwriting files across Professional Liability lines
  • Assess risk selection, documentation quality, and guideline adherence
  • Identify patterns, inconsistencies, and improvement opportunities

Improve the System

  • Help refine QA workflows, scoring frameworks, and reporting tools
  • Align QA standards with evolving product and underwriting strategy
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement

Coach, Don't Police

  • Deliver thoughtful, constructive feedback to underwriters and leaders
  • Recommend training and documentation enhancements
  • Build trust and foster a culture of accountability and learning

Communicate What Matters

  • Track quality trends and surface root causes
  • Maintain clear documentation of findings and actions
  • Partner across underwriting, product, and operations

What We're Looking For

  • Prior general/technical underwriting experience in Professional Liability lines of business and coverages.
  • Strong understanding of underwriting guidelines and risk rationale
  • Ability to analyze submission data and appetite alignment
  • Organized, detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities
  • Mindset of continuous improvement --- not enforcement

You should genuinely enjoy improving underwriting performance and helping others sharpen their craft.

Why Ledgebrook?

We believe in talent density --- fewer, better people working together as one team.

  • Competitive salary + meaningful equity (we win together)
  • 100% employer-paid health insurance option
  • 401k, dental, vision
  • Fully remote, flexible hours
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Real ownership and impact

We've replaced individual incentives with generous equity. We play as a team. We win as a team.

Important

This role is open only to candidates authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.
