Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain end-to-end deployment pipelines in Azure DevOps using YAML, eliminating manual deployment processes.
  • Manage and unify CI/CD workflows across HITT-framework-based projects and custom implementations using Databricks Asset Bundles (DABs).
  • Lead initiatives to standardize deployment practices, reducing fragmentation and improving consistency across the domain.
  • Extend the HITT framework by identifying tooling gaps and implementing enhancements to support advanced testing and compliance requirements.
  • Configure Pull Request automation to enforce the execution of unit tests, integration tests, and data quality checks prior to merge.
  • Implement a gated release strategy:
    • Automatically deploy code to the Acceptance environment upon successful merge.
    • Enforce strict approval gates for Production deployments, requiring sign-off from designated stakeholders (e.g., Data Engineering Lead, Staff Engineer, or Manager).
  • Infrastructure & Platform Operations
    • Provision and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Bicep, ARM Templates, or Terraform.
    • Administer Azure Databricks workspaces, including configuration of workflows, cluster policies, and library dependencies.
    • Monitor CI/CD pipeline performance and stability, and troubleshoot deployment-related issues.
  • Security & Collaboration
    • Enforce least privilege access principles, ensuring production environments are protected and all changes are deployed via secure pipelines.
    • Collaborate with QA Engineers to integrate testing frameworks into CI/CD processes.
    • Partner with Staff Data Engineers to align pipeline capabilities with evolving architectural standards and roadmap initiatives.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or related roles.
  • Strong expertise in Azure Pipelines, Repos, Branch Policies, Release Gates, and YAML-based pipeline development.
  • Databricks Ecosystem: Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks, including Databricks Asset Bundles (DABs) and Workflows orchestration.
  • Programming & Scripting: Proficiency in Python, along with Bash and/or PowerShell for automation.
  • Azure Cloud Platform: Deep understanding of services such as ADLS Gen2, Key Vault, Virtual Networks, and private endpoints, along with RBAC and Managed Identities.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Experience with ARM Templates, Bicep, or Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management.
