The Role
We are working with a small, ambitious studio working on a new action adventure title being built in UE5. This studio is searching for a Game Director who will be responsible for defining and elevating the vision of their project. This studio is offering completely remote work and no relocation is required here.
In this role you will be the guardian of the game's creative vision. You will be a hands-on creative leader who knows exactly what good feels like. Your primary focus will be delivering a gameplay loop centered around world-class combat and fluid, expressive traversal. You will align design, art, audio, and engineering to ensure every punch, leap, swing, and dash feels unforgettable.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the Creative Vision: Establish, articulate, and maintain the "North Star" vision for the game from pre-production through to launch and live operations. Ensure all departments are aligned and inspired by this vision.
- Mastery of Feel (Combat & Traversal): Directly oversee the core gameplay loop. You will champion the feel, pacing, and mechanics of character movement, environmental navigation, and combat systems, pushing the team to achieve a world-class standard of execution.
- Direct Multi-Disciplinary Leadership: Lead and mentor the design, art and technical leads. You will foster a culture of rapid iteration, psychological safety, and creative excellence.
- UE5 Product Guardrails: Partner with Technical Leads to leverage the cutting-edge capabilities of Unreal Engine 5 (e.g., Motion Matching, Enhanced Input, Control Rig) to push the boundaries of animation fidelity and systemic gameplay.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Act as the primary creative voice to studio leadership. You will clearly communicate product goals, creative milestones, and strategic pivots when necessary.
