We're a nearly 100-year-old, independently owned wealth management and advisory firm serving high net worth families nationwide. We're seeking a Tax Manager who wants meaningful client work without the pressure of public accounting ---no billable hours, unlimited PTO, and a significantly lighter, more controlled busy season.
If you enjoy partnering closely with high net worth clients and want a calmer, more predictable pace, this is a rare opportunity.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
- No Billable Hours -- No tracking, no quotas, no pressure.
- Unlimited PTO -- Real flexibility with a culture that encourages time off.
- Shorter, Less Stressful Busy Season -- Workload is intentionally managed with far fewer hours than public accounting.
- Remote Flexibility -- Fully remote for East & Central Time Zones.
- Stable, Longstanding Firm -- Nearly 100 years old with zero private equity involvement.
- High Retention -- Average employee tenure of over 9.5 years.
- Clear Advancement Paths -- Leadership opportunities without forced partner-track pressure.
- HNW Client Base -- Sophisticated, relationship-driven work.
What You Will Be Working On
A majority of the work revolves around individual returns:
- Complex 1040s (~80% of workload) for high net worth individuals
- Pass-Through Entities -- S corps, partnerships, and family investment structures
- Nice-to-Have Experience: Trust & estate tax (not required)
- Deliver proactive tax planning and advisory support
- Maintain and deepen long-term client relationships
- Collaborate with wealth advisors on integrated tax strategies
- Mentor junior team members within a supportive culture
What We're Looking For
- 5--7+ years of tax experience (public accounting or wealth management)
- Strong proficiency in complex individual tax
- Experience with pass-through entities
- Trust & estate experience is helpful but not required
- CPA or EA required
- Exceptional communication and client service skills
- Comfortable working independently in a remote-first environment
Compensation & Benefits
- $160K--$180K base salary + incentives
- Sign-On Bonus available
- Unlimited PTO
- No billable hours whatsoever
- Intentionally lighter busy season with significantly reduced hours compared to public accounting
- Employer-supported medical, retirement match, life & disability insurance
- Continuing education & full certification support
- Progressive, people-first culture with strong technology adoption
If you're ready to move away from public accounting intensity and into a stable, client-focused wealth management environment---where busy season is manageable and sustainable---this is the ideal next step.
