About the Role
LHH is partnering with a global nonprofit/conservation client to find a TEMP Associate Director of Communications. This role serves as a Strategic Communications SME for a specific policy/campaign. Ideal candidates possess 8+ years of experience in strategic communications within NGO/nonprofit or mission-driven industries. Strong project management skills are crucial for managing campaigns and collaborating with diverse internal and external stakeholders. A strong command of writing and 360-degree strategy is required.
This is a 7-month contract opportunity, beginning ASAP. The role is remote, with flexibility needed due to stakeholders in multiple time zones. The pay range is $62-$75/hr, commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the strategic communications subject matter expert for a large-scale, mission-driven campaign, guiding global communications strategy to support policy and social impact goals.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with senior campaign leadership, funders, and external organizations to align communications strategy with broader philanthropic and programmatic initiatives across regions and time zones.
- Develop, document, and operationalize communications strategy, ensuring continuity, shared learning, and consistent execution.
- Lead and manage complex projects, including budgeting, planning, grant-related coordination, external consultants, and internal workflows, ensuring organized handoffs.
- Represent campaign efforts externally in partner meetings, presentations, and convenings, sharing insights, aligning stakeholders, and fostering long-term relationships.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in strategic communications expertise and execution.
- Background in philanthropy, fundraising, or NGO environments, with the ability to align communication strategy with grantmaking priorities and long-term social impact goals.
- Experience in nonprofit, NGO, or mission-driven strategic communications campaigns.
- Project management expertise, including budgeting, planning, grant-related coordination, and familiarity with project management tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
