JOB SUMMARY

The Vice President of Finance provides strategic and operational financial leadership for MAP International, a global nonprofit delivering life-changing medicines and health supplies. This role oversees financial strategy execution, fiscal stewardship, and the integrity of MAP's financial operations, supporting a high-volume Gifts-in-Kind (GIK) and cash-based model, ensuring financial integrity, scalability, and strong stewardship.

In addition to core finance leadership responsibilities, the VP, Finance provides oversight of treasury and investment activities, purchasing and real estate functions, insurance and risk management, and financial operations across MAP's U.S. office locations. The role partners closely with the CEO and Senior Leadership Team to ensure financial sustainability, strong internal controls, regulatory compliance, and the safeguarding of organizational assets, while translating financial performance into clear, actionable insights to support decision‑making. This position is slated to work 32 hours per week on average and may be based within the contiguous United States with heavy preference to states in which MAP currently has employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

FINANCIAL LEADERSHIP & STRATEGY

  • Advise CEO and executive team on financial strategy and planning
  • Lead forecasting, long-range modeling, and resource allocation
  • Translate financial performance into clear, actionable insights

FINANCIAL REPORTING & CONTROLS

  • Oversee timely, accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Strengthen internal controls and financial systems
  • Lead audit preparation and external auditor engagement

BUDGETING & PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

  • Lead annual budget and reforecasting processes
  • Monitor performance against key metrics and financial targets
  • Partner with leaders to drive accountability and discipline

COMPLIANCE & RISK MANAGEMENT

  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations, donor restrictions, pharmaceutical distribution requirements, and organizational policies
  • Partner cross-functionally on pharmaceutical distribution compliance
  • Partner with the Audit Committee to provide regular updates on financial performance, risks, and compliance matters

CASH & REVENUE OVERSIGHT

  • Oversee cash flow, liquidity, and treasury functions
  • Monitor revenue streams including philanthropy, grants, service fees, and GIK

PURCHASING, REAL ESTATE & INSURANCE

  • Provide financial oversight of purchasing practices and vendor relationships to ensure consistency, control, and value
  • Oversee financial aspects of real estate and facility operations for MAP offices in Brunswick and Atlanta, in coordination with operational leaders
  • Maintain relationships with insurance brokers and provide guidance on property, casualty, and other liability coverage
  • Advise senior leadership on financial risk management and insurance strategy
  • Partner with operational leaders to support facility and office related financial decisions

LEADERSHIP & COLLABORATION

  • Lead finance team and develop staff capabilities
  • Collaborate across Programs, Development, Operations, and Compliance
  • Foster a culture of accountability, service, and mission alignment
  • Provide regular financial updates to the CEO and appropriate board committees

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Recommend oversight of financial reporting and systems, payroll, cash collections, compliance activities, and assessment of internal controls, with specific deliverables and milestones agreed by the CEO, interim designee, and Audit Committee. Provide weekly updates to the CEO and monthly updates to the Audit Committee on scope results, concerns, and issues, if any.

Directly reports to the CEO. The VP, Finance will have 1-3 direct reports and oversee the operations of a finance department of approximately 6 staff total. Collaborate closely with the other heads of MAP functions an interface regularly with cost center managers.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA and / or Masters preferred)
  • 10+ years of senior financial leadership experience
  • Nonprofit finance experience required, Including familiarity with ECFA best practices
  • Strong GAAP, controls, and audit expertise

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
