About Matillion

Matillion is the intelligent data integration platform, changing how the world works with data. We are building the Data Productivity Cloud and shaping the future of data engineering with Maia, our AI-powered virtual data engineers. Join #TeamGreen, where collaboration drives us forward and we make a significant impact.

About the Role

As a Cloud Operations Analyst, you will be a key contributor to the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud-native platforms, working across AWS, GCP, and Azure. This individual contributor role focuses on Cloud Infrastructure, FinOps, and SRE, emphasizing attention to detail and a bias for action. You will analyze performance, drive cost efficiency, own FinOps governance, and leverage AI tooling. This role requires a hunger to go deep, work with autonomy, and build scalable solutions.

This role follows a hybrid work pattern, requiring 2 days per week in our Manchester office.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Contributing to the design and implementation of Matillion's cloud infrastructure estate and Infrastructure as Code across AWS (primary), GCP, and Azure.
  • Monitoring performance, supporting automated deployments, and maintaining lean and efficient cloud spend.
  • Taking ownership of FinOps governance, including analyzing cloud usage patterns, managing Reserved Instances and Savings Plans, and partnering with Finance.
  • Implementing and auditing cloud security best practices across IAM, VPC configuration, and encryption, maintaining SOC2 and ISO 27001 standards.
  • Handling routine IAM requests with a least-privilege mindset.
  • Applying AI tooling to accelerate workflows and sharing learnings with the team.
  • Contributing to a culture of documentation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience in a Cloud Operations, DevOps, or SRE role supporting high-availability SaaS environments.
  • Working familiarity with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS).
  • Comfort reading and editing Terraform modules.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS) and Docker.
  • Ability to write and maintain scripts in Python or Bash for automating operational tasks.
  • A sharp eye for cloud cost optimization, with the ability to read usage data, identify inefficiencies, and translate findings into clear recommendations.
  • A genuine willingness to master AI-powered developer tools like Claude Code.
  • Inquisitive, autonomous, and detail-focused with a desire to dig into root causes.
  • Thrives in a small, high-trust team environment.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated annual salary range for this position is £36,000 - £54,000, based on the role, job family, job level, and country. Final salary will depend on relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.

Matillion offers a flexible working culture promoting work-life balance, with benefits including:

  • Company Equity
  • 30 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • 5 days paid volunteering leave
  • Health insurance
  • Life Insurance
  • Pension
  • Access to mental health support
