Backup English Trainer, Online Tutor & Learner Support (m/f/d)

Remote | Freelance | Minimum 30 hours/week (08:00--18:00 CET/CEST)

Are you a highly flexible English trainer who can step in at short notice and deliver high-quality lessons with minimal preparation time? Do you enjoy supporting learners beyond the classroom and working in a dynamic digital environment?

We are an international language school based in Germany, looking for a reliable and tech-savvy professional to join our team.

👉 This role is primarily focused on acting as a Backup Trainer, ensuring continuity for our learners when other trainers are unavailable.

Your Role -- Key Focus Areas

1. Backup Trainer (Primary Responsibility)

  • Step in at short notice to take over scheduled lessons when other trainers are unavailable
  • Ensure continuity and consistent quality of training for our participants
  • Deliver engaging online English lessons (A1 to advanced, including Business and Technical English)
  • Quickly familiarize yourself with lesson content and learner needs
  • Confidently teach with minimal preparation time
  • Adapt flexibly to different learners, levels, and course formats

2. Online Tutor & Administrative Support for Learners

Between backup teaching assignments, you will support learners and internal processes:

  • Provide ongoing learner support (Administrative Support for Learners)
  • Assist with homework, task assignment, and follow-ups
  • Monitor and track learner progress and learning objectives
  • Conduct learning progress checks and provide structured evaluations
  • Deliver individualized feedback to support learner development
  • Answer technical and pedagogical questions (in English)
  • Support course coordination and scheduling
  • Maintain learner records, documents, and CRM systems

3. Content Creation & Learner Engagement

  • Create engaging and easy-to-understand teaching materials (strong plus)
  • Develop content that simplifies complex topics in a clear and motivating way
  • Write posts and updates in participant chats to encourage engagement
  • Actively motivate learners and support consistent participation

What You Bring

  • English proficiency at C2 level (minimum requirement); native speakers preferred
  • Proven experience teaching English (A1 to advanced levels)
  • Ability to adapt quickly and teach with minimal preparation
  • High level of flexibility and reliability for short-notice scheduling
  • Experience in Business and/or Technical English is a plus
  • Strong ability to motivate learners and explain complex topics simply
  • Experience creating teaching materials is a strong advantage
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Confident using MS Teams and virtual teaching platforms
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable with e-learning tools
  • Structured, independent, and solution-oriented working style
  • German skills are a strong advantage, but not required
  • Must be based outside of Germany (requirement)
