Health Actuary Manager

Mercer is looking for a Health Actuary Manager. This role is hybrid (in-office 3x per week) and available in Richmond, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Atlanta, Tampa, Louisville, Nashville, Hartford, or NYC.

What can you expect?

  • Manage client projects focusing on employer health benefits strategies, including financial projections, carrier selection, plan design optimization, IBNP valuations, benchmarking, well-being initiatives, and renewal negotiations.
  • Create deliverables and provide direction to analysts and associates while serving as a primary financial client contact.
  • Present deliverables to clients in partnership with senior team members.

We will count on you to:

  • Direct, coach, and guide professional actuarial analysts through valuation work, ensuring data accuracy and validity.
  • Review analyses related to health and welfare insurance, contract brokering, and cost projections to ensure actuarial soundness.
  • Perform and review complex quantitative analyses using Excel, SAS, and other software.
  • Prepare reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommending client strategies.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior staff.

What you need to have:

  • BA/BS degree in actuarial science, math, statistics, finance, economics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in an actuarial field.
  • Demonstrated ability to pass Society of Actuaries credentialing exams.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Proven managerial experience.
  • Ability to work in teams and manage tight deadlines.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range is $93,500 to $187,000, determined by experience, skills, location, and certifications. This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives and includes a competitive total rewards package with health benefits, 401K, and tuition assistance.
