Remote Senior Backend Engineer - Java

Responsibilities

• Act as the internal expert on backend architecture, establishing and enforcing standards
• Enhance the quality of our internal software by modernizing outdated components
• Manage reliability and performance by detecting bugs and issues, while improving user experience
• Mentor junior engineers, setting a strong example and sharing best practices
• Collaborate with various teams, particularly product and design, to clarify and successfully execute requirements
• Be an effective communicator and collaborator, engaging in code reviews and collective problem-solving across multiple time zones

Requirements

Must have:

• Bachelors Degree
• Minimum of 5 years, ideally 7-10+ years of Java development and backend engineering experience
• Experience in eCommerce is a significant advantage
• Proficient in Java with knowledge of at least one other backend and frontend programming language
• Skilled in enhancing legacy codebases
• Familiar with automated testing practices
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture
• Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS
• Excellent communication skills due to a focus on teamwork
