QGIS Expert

Requirements

Must have:

• Extensive hands-on experience with QGIS, including independently managing complete GIS projects.
• Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality spatial analyses, maps, and other geospatial outputs in QGIS.
• Strong understanding of spatial data types, coordinate systems, projections, and core GIS concepts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical choices and workflow reasoning.
• Strong capability in organizing, cleaning, and transforming data within QGIS.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving complex GIS workflow issues.
• Ability to work remotely while keeping documentation current and communicating consistently with the wider team.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end QGIS projects, from acquiring and cleaning raw spatial data through to final maps and delivery materials.
• Record workflow steps and decision-making in real time while handling data management, spatial analysis, and map creation.
• Organize, clean, and verify varied spatial datasets to maintain accuracy and consistency.
• Manage projections, coordinate systems, and spatial references to improve interoperability and output quality.
• Style and symbolize map layers to ensure clarity, readability, and professional presentation.
• Create advanced layouts and cartographic products while explaining design decisions.
• Troubleshoot issues and describe problem-solving approaches as they arise in QGIS workflows.

This is a remote contract role, and no prior AI experience is required because we value your domain knowledge most. The pay range for this position is $40 to $100 per hour.
