About the Role

A boutique software consulting firm specializing in modern .NET and Azure-based solutions is expanding its team due to a significant public sector engagement. This project involves establishing and supporting a new cloud environment for a state-level system, emphasizing the creation of scalable, secure, and production-ready Azure infrastructure.

We are seeking a Senior Azure Architect to join our dynamic team in a pivotal role. You will be instrumental in guiding the design, validation, and build-out of an Azure environment based on an existing architecture, thereby accelerating delivery timelines and ensuring a robust foundation.

This position is perfect for a hands-on individual who thrives in environments requiring structure and direction, and who can lead both technically and strategically. You will collaborate closely with internal engineering teams and stakeholders to interpret existing designs, address gaps, and oversee the implementation of core Azure infrastructure components.

This role is fully remote.

Required Skills & Experience

• 6+ years of experience in cloud engineering or architecture, with a deep focus on Microsoft Azure.
• Proven experience designing and implementing Azure environments, including landing zones, networking, and governance.
• Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
• Hands-on expertise in Azure networking, encompassing VNets, subnets, NSGs, routing, and hub-and-spoke architectures.
• Experience with identity and access management solutions such as Entra ID, RBAC, and conditional access.
• Proficiency in working with containerized environments like AKS and Docker.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret technical documentation and translate it into functional infrastructure.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with a track record of guiding technical teams.

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience in consulting or supporting external clients.
• Prior experience supporting public sector or government clients.
• Familiarity with Azure landing zone frameworks and best practices.
• Experience thriving in fast-paced, deadline-driven settings.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
• Experience building or rebuilding cloud environments from existing designs.
