Data Analytics Engineer
Mutual of Enumclaw is seeking a Data Analytics Engineer to bridge the gap between raw data and business insights. This role involves designing, building, and governing analytics-ready data assets across the P&C insurance value chain, including Underwriting, Actuarial, Claims, Product, Distribution, and Finance, for all lines of business.
The position translates insurance business logic into governed, scalable data models, collaborating with stakeholders to deliver trusted reporting and analytics solutions. You will play a key role in advancing our Snowflake-based medallion architecture and enabling data-driven decision-making company-wide.
Location: REMOTE (preference for WA, OR, ID, MT, WY, AZ, or UT residents). Must be able to work during core Pacific Time business hours and have high-speed internet (speed test required).
Responsibilities:
Business Partnership & Delivery
- Partner with stakeholders across Product, Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, Finance, and Distribution to define KPIs, reporting requirements, and scalable analytics solutions.
- Design and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations in Sigma, Power BI, or similar BI platforms.
Data Modeling & Engineering
- Design and maintain scalable data models, pipelines, and semantic layers within a Snowflake/dbt architecture.
- Integrate data from internal and external sources (e.g., policy systems, Salesforce, HubSpot).
Data Governance & Quality
- Define and enforce data governance standards, including data definitions, access controls, and metadata management.
- Validate and test data outputs for accuracy and reliability.
- Monitor data performance and improve data products based on user feedback.
Agile Delivery & Support
- Collaborate with Product Owners and Agile teams to deliver high-quality data products.
- Provide production support and troubleshoot data/reporting issues.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- P&C insurance experience (Underwriting, Claims, Insurance reporting metrics).
- Strong experience building dashboards and reports in Sigma, Power BI, or similar BI platforms.
- Strong experience with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake preferred) and transformation tools (dbt).
- Solid understanding of dimensional modeling, ELT processes, and modern data architectures (medallion/lakehouse).
- Knowledge of data integration methods (APIs, semi-structured data).
- Strong communication skills; ability to translate technical concepts for business audiences.
- Experience in Agile environments.
- Proficiency in SQL.
Preferred Skills:
- Working knowledge of Python or similar scripting languages.
- Experience modernizing or migrating data platforms.
- Working knowledge of insurance source systems (Guidewire, POINT, Duck Creek, or equivalents).
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, statistics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of experience in data analytics, data engineering, or related roles.
- Experience with data systems, pipelines, and reporting solutions.
Hiring Range: $140,891 - $157,545 Salary Range: $140,891 - $171,631
