Job Opportunity: Cloud Architect - Senior Cloud Migration Architect
Location: Lansing, MI (Hybrid)
Duration: 6 months with possible extension
Interview Process: In-person interviews required.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Migration Architect with extensive experience in AWS and Kubernetes to join our team in Lansing, MI. This is a hybrid role requiring onsite presence two days a week from the start. Local candidates are strongly preferred. Non-local candidates must be willing to relocate at their own expense and adhere to the hybrid schedule.

- AWS: 5-6 years of hands-on experience building and operating production workloads on AWS.

- Kubernetes: 3 years of hands-on experience, with a preference for production EKS.
- Includes: Helm, kubectl, ingress (ALB/NGINX), HPA, and troubleshooting pods/services/networking.
- Docker: Solid skills in multi-stage builds, image hardening, and ECR.
Required Qualifications
- AWS: 5-6 years of hands-on experience building and operating production workloads on AWS, with deep knowledge of Elastic Beanstalk, EKS, EC2, RDS, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, and Secrets Manager.
- Kubernetes: 3 years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes, production EKS preferred, including Helm, kubectl, ingress (ALB/NGINX), HPA, and troubleshooting pods/services/networking.
- GitOps: Production experience with ArgoCD or Flux is non-negotiable. Must include designing app-of-apps structures, managing multi-environment promotion, and resolving GitOps drift.
- CI/CD: Strong Azure DevOps Pipelines (YAML) experience (build pipelines, multi-stage release pipelines, variable groups, service connections, agents). Equivalent experience in GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins is acceptable if Azure DevOps can be learned quickly.
- Docker: Solid skills in multi-stage builds, image hardening, and ECR.
- Infrastructure-as-Code: Production experience with Terraform (preferred) or CloudFormation/CDK.
- Databases: Familiarity working with DBA teams on RDS (SQL Server and PostgreSQL), connection strings, secrets rotation, and migration cutover.
- Linux: Administration (RHEL/Amazon Linux/Ubuntu) and shell scripting (bash).
- Source Control: Git proficiency, including branching strategies, pull requests, and code review discipline.
- Communication: Strong written communication skills for producing clear runbooks, architecture diagrams, and PR descriptions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or DevOps Engineer - Professional.
- Kubernetes Certifications: CKA / CKAD.
- Migration Experience: Migrating .NET and Java applications from on-premises to AWS.
- COTS Products: Experience operating COTS products in containerized or cloud environments.
- Service Mesh/API Gateways: Experience with Istio, App Mesh, or API gateways.
- Security: Exposure to HashiCorp Vault, secrets rotation, and certificate management.
- Observability: Familiarity with DataDog, New Relic, or Splunk in addition to native AWS observability tools.
- Deployment Patterns: Experience with blue/green and canary deployment patterns.
