Position Overview
We are seeking a self-motivated and detail-oriented Paralegal / Legal Assistant to join our growing team. This role is integral to the day-to-day operations of the firm and will work closely with our attorneys across multiple litigation practice areas. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment. This is a fully remote position, so the ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to be productive and responsive with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, proofread, and format legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, correspondence, and contracts
- Assist attorneys in all phases of litigation, from pre-suit investigation through trial preparation
- Manage and organize case files, discovery materials, and document productions (including e-discovery platforms and Clio practice management softward)
- Coordinate and schedule depositions, hearings, mediations, and court filings; maintain case calendars and deadlines
- File documents with state and federal courts, including electronic filing
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, experts, and vendors
- Prepare and organize trial binders, exhibit lists, and witness materials
- Assist with billing, timekeeping, and client intake as needed
- Perform general administrative and office support duties as required
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree required; Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant in a litigation setting (Texas preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel); experience with legal practice management software (e.g., Clio, iManage, or similar) a plus
- Familiarity with Texas state court rules and federal court procedures
- Experience with e-discovery tools and document review platforms preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
- High degree of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail
- Notary Public commission (or willingness to obtain) is a plus
