About This Role

Why You'll Love This Role:

  • Build relationships with key decision-makers at the district level and sell Newsela's products to bring engaging learning content to school districts in your region.
  • Employ solution-based selling techniques and solution mapping, along with strong negotiation and closing skills, to ensure school board preparation and approval.
  • Create and maintain an aggressive pipeline, and build and adjust strategic account plans for key accounts to move each account through the sales cycle.
  • In your day-to-day, you will do everything from pipeline creation, pipeline management, and forecasting to designing lead generation campaigns and managing sales through the entire lifecycle while collaborating closely with other departments.
  • Meet in-person with school and district leaders, presenting solutions, negotiating terms, and securing agreements that bring Newsela into classrooms.
  • Be well-versed in your territory's funding, state initiatives, demographics, and K-12 education landscape, which will help inform your overall sales strategy.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Be part of a regional sales team and the face of Newsela in the market.
  • Have direct, regular exposure to our executive leadership team during meetings to discuss specific deal strategies, introduce industry trends, and build support for district-specific initiatives.
  • Have a highly skilled team dedicated to supporting you and your book of business, and receive extensive support from our Learning & Enablement team.
  • In addition to achieving your own revenue targets, work with an enthusiastic, cross-functional team to catapult Newsela's growth as we scale our national sales organization.
  • Thrive in a role that requires significant autonomy, representing the company in the market, making recommendations that impact strategy and results, and managing priorities independently.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment on matters of significance, including evaluating customer needs, structuring tailored solutions, negotiating within established guidelines, and influencing revenue and business outcomes.

About You

  • Proven Account Executive with 2 years of demonstrated success selling supplemental products to school districts in the K12 market.
  • Willing to build your own book of business and have extensive experience in networking, prospecting, and building a pipeline.
  • Experience partnering with school districts through BOCES regional offices, coordinating services and solutions that meet district needs.
  • Skilled at navigating complex education ecosystems, building trusted relationships, and driving strategic partnerships that create value across regional networks.
  • Well-versed in MEDDPICC sales methodology.
  • Proven success forecasting business in the EdTech industry.
  • Excited by opportunities to connect face-to-face — this position involves regular travel to meet with customers and prospects.

Compensation

  • Base salary: $75,000 - $80,000, depending on prior experience
  • On-target commission (OTC): $80,000
